The original main house built in 1940 had recently undergone a major renovation and addition but the original garage remained. Hurricane Ike was the last straw for the modest 2-car garage. The owners requested additional living space for their college age children and the perfect solution would be a separate garage apartment. A new larger garage with full upstairs living space replaces the previous single story, storm-damaged structure and complements the strong domestic character and massing of the main house in this deed restricted neighborhood.
